[Exclusive] The Okinawan Life of Longevity

A group of islands surrounded with pristine, clear aqua green waters and lush tropical forest green lands on the southernmost area of Japan. Its home to Asia’s fast growing centenarians. Each geographical location of Japan has its own distinctive climates; Okinawa blessed with sub-tropical.

‘Blue Zones’ is a concept coined by Dan Buettner, an award winning National Geographic Journalist and Producer in the search of places on earth with the longest living people. Okinawa is one of the five blue zones.  In fact, a town Ogimi, situated on the north end of the island, a population of just three thousand, has gained the nickname ‘The Village of Longevity’ for its highest life expectancy.

This island has the lowest rates of mortality and chronic diseases. An utopia, for the over-ambitious health fanatics. Its inhabitants meet and they have get togethers, they embrace the warmth of other friends, each one is friend of a friend of a friend, when they aren’t busy making friends, they enjoy something they are the most passionate about; they live their life relishing every bit of it with a purpose-ikigai. Their diet is home-cooked, grown by them, and a rule of not overeating keeps up their satiety-inspired by Confucian ideology. They don’t drink protein powder drinks and energy consumables. The island’s produce is unique; each prefecture has been specialised in different produce. The Okinawan diet consists of gut-friendly and super metabolising foods like shikuwasa, goya, ryukyu moromi vinegar, acerola and many more! They focus on a beneficial rest after work, and they see it crucial for their bodily existence.

The vastness of the Okinawan sea in its entirety!
